MTNL MT 882 (RT V 2.5)- not connecting to network

Post by Rocky5 » Mon Jun 23, 2008 2:05 pm

I recently upgraded my MTNL MT 882 router to RT V2.5.
After selecting the multi_mode modulation I am able to establish a DSL connection as is evident from home.png. But even after configuring the connection I am unable to connect (refer connection setup.png and connection status.png).
Is this a matter of configuring the connection correctly? Do changes need to made in the Lan Setup?
I have made a backup of the configuration on the older firmware viz. config.bin and the bootloader environment. I did not backup the older firmware itself.

Awaiting for your responses

Which ISP are you with? Are you sure about your connection settings (PPPoE rather than PPPoA)?

@ Rocky5: Congratulations on a successful upgrade :)

For the record:
The MNTL (Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited) MT 882 router in question is a 1 port AR7 non-wireless PSP boot based router.

I assisted Rocky5 regarding running the RUC via PM.

The ISP is Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited. The connection is PPPOE and not PPPOA.
I dont have a backup of the original firmware so I have to try and make this work now.

It's worth noting (again) that the MNTL MT 882 is not the same router as the Huawei Smart AX MT882 - the Huawei router from TalkTalk is Conexant based (judging from the label on the underside).

Here is an excerpt from the RUC report produced with the MNTL MT 882:

@ Rocky5 - can you PM your current config.bin and your backup config.bin to me? I can then do a quick comparison to see if anything needs changing ;)

In your connection setup you need to set the vpi/vci, they are both zero. Also I would try authentication auto first before refusing 'chap' and selecting only pap.

You did do a reset to defaults and retype all the data? Maybe you cannot change vpi/vci after attempting to connect, but should be 0,32 according to the info here

http://mtnldelhi.in/services/broadband.htm

you should have the info for your actual location

Thanks for the configs :) From your previous config:
VPI = 0
VCI = 32
Authentification = Auto

The are only enabled when creating a new connection - so you could try deleting the existing connection and then create a new one ;)

Are the correct values showing now in the connections setup page?
