Hi,

We have the Acorp 7.05 but this is an official beta which no-one seems to use in a commerical firmware yet. Doesn't work significantly different to dsp 7.3 on my connection - dsp 7.4 had more disconnects. Do you see a speed/performance difference - probably more of an issue for high speed connections with margins close to 6dB?

We have had a few reports of pppoe failures - where D-link firmware does work.

There's at least 2 theories, the first is the version of pppd (2.4.3) vs 2.4.1 in RouterTech. Another is that some D-link firmwares allow both MTU and MRU to be set. Also pppoe service_name can be set in some.

D-Link GPL source release doesn't match their binaries, and other versions of pppd don't compile...

If the problem is pppd then no versions of RouterTech will have worked with Italian pppoe!

Any further info you have gratefully received!

Don't really understand your comment re modulation, this is stored in env vars and if you have been experimenting with later Acorp nsp 3.7+ there's a couple of extra vars that may have affect on dsp7+ (but not dsp6). The Quickstart connection is useful for UK pppoa, sorry!

I use the default value (1492) set by PPPOE.

As you can see (values) you have a 2db gain with DSP 7.05 (vs. 7.03).

If you upgarde from working fw, with RT 2.7 the default (loading cfg file) is "No modulation" set.
The Multimode is usefull for all because include all modes. And should be preferred than nothing (no modulation set)
Many user updates the fw, doesn't connect and think that the modulation it's already in place (but it's not true).
The fix is to load in configuration file (default) the "Multimode" modulation set.

I confirm you that the RT mod fw (zagor) has pppd vs. 2.4.3.

Try setting it to 1400.

And there are other problems that it can cause.

I have already explained that multimode has different values depending on the tiatm driver. There is no value that works for all tiatm drivers, and that is why it is clearly and specifically stated in the firmware documentation that you must set it to multimode manually in the web interface.

Why do you want to do that?

i want to delete all routertech stuff from my router and then i'ill flash it again with 2.7.
yes, flash consists of

mtd2 (bootloader - unchanged)
mtd3 (env vars plus config)
mtd4 (firmware)

(mtd0 and mtd1 are offsets for filesystem and kernel inside mtd4)

unsetenv any specific Routertech env vars
load your old firmware
reset config to defaults
i think i'm the only one with this DNS problem in 2.7.

Just one quick question: Will there be something like a "public beta" of the new beta 3 or any later versions? I ask since I have problem with re-synchs every 10 minutes with the v2.7 release version any I was told that this has been fixed in the latest beta(s). TIA!

Hm, is there any chance to get such a beta version then? I'd really like to try it out here. Thanks!

Roper FLYNET ADSL2/2+ Wireless Router (ROADSL2P-WG) upgraded to 2.7 release (routertech-ar7wrd-pspboot-firmware-20081005.tar.bz2) with no problem.
