What is your MRU in the connection setup - try 1400.

yes, flash consists of

mtd2 (bootloader - unchanged)
mtd3 (env vars plus config)
mtd4 (firmware)

(mtd0 and mtd1 are offsets for filesystem and kernel inside mtd4)

unsetenv any specific Routertech env vars
load your old firmware
reset config to defaults

@digitalic:

Code: Select all

setenv modulation 0xffff
That modulation value is still meaningless.

Code: Select all

setenv margin_threshold 1
What's this?

@LinerX:

Code: Select all

DSL_FEATURE_CNTL_0 0x02004000
DSL_FEATURE_CNTL_1 0x00000000
DSL_PHY_CNTL_0 0x00000400
Try removing these variables from the environment.

As for removing RT settings, go to the "RT Configurations" menu in the webui, untick everything, and save changes. That is not going to help you however, because the RT settings are not the cause of your problem.

Did you have this problem with v2.6?

yes, i had same problem with 2.6, but sometime i was able to enter https://www.routertech.org with 2.6.
at the beginning with 2.7 i was able to enter all sites.. *verry happy*
after i change something in the "RT Configurations" (enable darkstat to ppp0, etc.) i had the same problem like 2.6.

my idea was, do delete all of Routertech fw from the routers Memory and flash the router with the v2.7 again, because at the beginning i had no probs with 2.7.

is that a good idea ?

Apparently my Russian Dlink 3.0 Firmware is convinced that 0xfffff= ADSL2+ Multi Mode, I've tried clearing that value and reselecting modulation again from the menu, it kept going back to 0xfffff

I found a SNR margin tweak guide that suggested trying that to fix sync issues. Apparently it didn't work. I have since removed it.

I even managed to get my env file to exactly match my old one now by removing all the extra entries, but it still doesn't sync like it used to.

My current env.

Like I said, i'm all out of ideas. I'm going to test the new router tommorow and report back.

BTW, while looking at endless env and check log files, I noticed that firmware 2.7 rolled back a couple of drivers to an older version.

For example:

Version 2.6

Code: Select all

/proc/avalanche/avsar_ver
ATM Driver version:[7.03.01.03]
DSL HAL version: [7.03.01.03]
DSP Datapump version: [7.03.01.66] Annex A
SAR HAL version: [01.07.2c]
PDSP Firmware version:[0.54]
Chipset ID: [7300/7300A]
Version 2.7

Code: Select all

/proc/avalanche/avsar_ver
ATM Driver version:[7.03.09.00]
DSL HAL version: [7.03.00.01]
DSP Datapump version: [7.03.01.00] Annex A
SAR HAL version: [01.07.2c]
PDSP Firmware version:[0.54]
Chipset ID: [7300/7300A]
I know it's probably totally unrelated, but is there a reason for the rollback?

Your problem is not caused by the dsp/tiatm driver versions.

I feel like I am in an endless loop here. A modulation of 0xffff is meaningless. I don't think I will repeat this again. If it doesn't get reset when you change the modulation from the web interface, then there is something up with your environment (probably needs defragmenting). You might need to set it manually to 0xff.

Is there any way to change the SNR margin like the DMT tool does in some routers? I wan't to increase it because I have often disconnects, I prefer more stable line than speed. I have a D-link G624T router wih 2.7 RouterTech firmware.

You can try this

Code: Select all

setenv DSL_FEATURE_CNTL_0 0x02000000
or this

Code: Select all

setenv DSL_FEATURE_CNTL_0 0x03000000
The first enables the 2dB additional noise margin to improve the long term line stability (at the expense of speed). The second does the first, and also tries to improve DS margin. If this doesn't help, or if it causes problems, then just remove it with this

Code: Select all

unsetenv DSL_FEATURE_CNTL_0

I've tried manually setting it to 0x1 or 0xff it doesn't work, it keeps resetting back to 0xffff.

I found something intresting:

http://wiki.openwrt.org/OpenWrtDocs/Har ... k/DSL-502T

About the Dlink 502T:
The NZ firmware has modulation=0xffff (allow all modes) and this appears to auto-negotiate ADSL1 and ADSL2 modes as appropriate.
And apparently it's not the only Dlink router that has this strange modulation value, the DSL-524T, DSL-G624T, DSL-500T(ver3) and DSL-504T(ver3) give out the same values too.

The modulation values are specific to tiatm drivers. If you set it manually to 0xff in RT firmwares, there is no reason for it to be reset to 0xffff, which means nothing to RT firmwares. That just leaves the RT firmware (and most other firmwares I have seen) trying to guess whatever that means. It is a recipe for trouble.

If it keeps getting reset, I can guarantee that this is not something done by any RT firmware.

So this is weird, after replacing my router with a spare router I got, nothing changed. It still synced at low speeds, but after just 1 day the issue resolved itself. I'm pretty sure my ISP and my local phone central had nothing to do with it because a) fri and sat are non business days for them b) i never got around to calling them about the issue.

I'm thinking about trying my 2.7 firmware router again. However, if i do connect it and the speed drops again then that settles it.

First feedback about 2.7 on Dlink DSL-300T/302T

Post by bovirus » Sat Oct 11, 2008 1:33 pm

Hi.

I just upgrade the modems with latest Adma2/pspboot 1 port fw.

Feedbacks.

Don't works with Italian PPOE settings (VPI=8/VPI=35).
Connection it's OK (reported connect) but you cannot open any web pages.
Works only in PPOA (connection OK - open web pages OK)
This a problem that also exist in RT 2.5/2.6

The DSP should be updated (in 2.7 you use DSP 7.03 - teh latest it0s 7.05)
With RT 2.7 & DSP 7.03 ADSL value are:
DS Margin=22 - US Margin=29
DS Line attenuation=28 - US Line attenuation=17

With RT 2.5 mod by zagor (with DSP 7.05) value are:
DS Margin=24 - US Margin=29
DS Line attenuation=28 - US Line attenuation=17

Loading before the configuration file & then fw at reboot you can check

- Modulation is not set (should be Multimode by default)
- There is already a connection profile "quikc..." (should be empty to avoid misconnection if you create another one)

Thanks for the report. What is the value of the MRU/MTU that you are using for the pppoe connection?
bovirus wrote:The DSP should be updated (in 2.7 you use DSP 7.03 - teh latest it0s 7.05)
Unfortunately, I don't think that is going to happen anytime soon. 7.05 is not suitable for everybody.
bovirus wrote:Modulation is not set (should be Multimode by default)
The value of the modulation varies depending on the version of the tiatm driver. In many cases, it has to be set manually from the web interface.
bovirus wrote:There is already a connection profile "quikc..." (should be empty to avoid misconnection if you create another one)
Sorry, but that will not happen. If you create another one, then you should delete the quickstart connection. This is well documented now.
