eTEC ADSL2+ 4 port router - Dead, need help

Post by jnrmofo » Sat Oct 03, 2009 11:01 am

Hello, I have a wired 4 port ADSL router which has died on me. When I switch it on the power and ethernet lights come on the but the adsl light appears briefly and then disappears.

The modem is an etec AL-2108 modem with Conexant chipset, it is widely sold under different brand names particularly in Australia. More information about the modem can be found at;

http://www.etec-components.co.uk/AL-2108.html

I think the firmware has gone, I cannot access the configuration page at all. I have tried using the reset button, holding it down forever but nothing.

I am unable to connect to the router at all, I have tried the router tools from this site and tried to hit it through telnet and get no response.

I have a firmware file, I though using the routertech tools to re-apply the firmware could help but the file is a .bin file and the program says it is not a valid firmware file. The firmware file can be found at;

http://www.etec-components.co.uk/firmwa ... rmware.rar

I have not been able to get much information about the bootloader etc as it is dead, but if anyone needs any details just let me know and I will try to get the details.

Can anyone help? Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong or how to fix it? At the moment I'm having to use an old BT modem and can just hear them chuckling at my misery!
