Mission impossible for me.
Even with toolinit file.
How can I check, if new bootloader (psbl_4M_16M_AMD_AR7WRD_1350A_1.4.0.10.bin) is properly installed, before this reboot?
Should router respond after that reboot to pings, etc?

Then the attempt to replace the bootloader has failed. If it worked, you would not need toolinit, and it would work the first time, and every time (until the firmware is loaded), because you would only have a functional bootloader and nothing else.

You can't - except by dumping the contents of mtd2 and then cross-checking it with a hex editor with the bootloader file.

It should respond to pings.

OK, so used jtag to recover.
Third attempt, no luck...
Attached bootloader (psbl_4M_16M_AMD_AR7WRD_1350A_1.4.0.10.bin) after flashing (cat /dev/mtdblock/2 > /var/now.bin).
Seems the same, except addresses above 0FCC0 - should I erase that range?

After reboot (/sbin/reboot) still can't connect to the router. Using another router as a switch, so no problem here with timing.
WAG first lights up DSL led, then eth led (it blinks when pc-tool is fired up).
After about 16 seconds both leds, wifi and internet start blinking.

Any suggestions?

Can't edit my last post, but I'd like to add something:
Pc-tools says:
"Retrieving Target's IP address",
later:
"Connecting to Target 192.168.1.1",
and after that:
"Connect to Target 192.168.1.1 failed"

It seems to me that the bootloader installed correctly. Therefore, you should be able to connect with the pctool. I don't know about using another router as a switch. It should be absolutely unnecessary. In fact, there should be no problem connecting at all (as long as everything else is correct - static IP address within the correct IP range, all ethernet ports working correctly, trying to connect after about 8 seconds, etc).

Maybe you should post the contents of the environment before installing the new bootloader. Your "now.bin" is 128kb, while mine is 64kb - which may be significant.

I'm using "WAG200G_V1.01.09_flashimage.openwag200-build-1.4-A.img" to recover via jtag.

So mtd values are as follow:

Code: Select all

mtd0	0x900d0000,0x903a0000
mtd1	0x90020000,0x900d0000
mtd2	0x90000000,0x90020000
mtd3	0x903e0000,0x903f0000
mtd4	0x903f0000,0x90400000
mtd5	0x903a0000,0x903e0000
So should I correct them to:

Code: Select all

mtd0 0x900a1000,0x90400000
mtd1 0x90020090,0x900a1000
mtd2 0x90000000,0x90010000
mtd3 0x90010000,0x90020000
mtd4 0x90020000,0x90400000
as I've found on another thread?

If yes, before or after upload of pspboot? And what about mtd5?

The mtd partitions are correct for Linksys and Openwag, so that is not the problem. So that takes us back to square one. You should not be having a problem. I would remove the intervening switch, and connect the router directly. I would also try to "repair" the Windows network connection if the pctool still cannot connect. If that doesn't work, then look at the output of "ipconfig /all".

This is with the psp bootloader when you can't connect with the PCtool?

Yes, it is psp.

I've tried with two different WAG200s (have three of them), on two different computers as a host (with or without switch) and just can't connect with the pctool to psp bootloader.
As you can see in one of my previous posts, pctool (AFAICS) starts negotiation with the router ("Retrieving Target's IP address") and at last see it ("Connecting to Target 192.168.1.1"), but after 5 - 7 minutes it gives up ("Connect to Target 192.168.1.1 failed").

Ok. I have 2 WAG200Gs, and have never experienced this problem. At this point, we are guessing about how to solve a problem that should most certainly not exist. The only way you will really know what is going on is via a serial console. In the absence of that, here are some other suggestions. Have you tried installing the psp bootloader using "cat" ("cat bootloader.bin > /dev/mtdblock/2"). Have you tried installing the psp bootloader with JTAG? (presumably you are recovering the router by installing the correct bootloader via JTAG and flashing the Openwag firmware again). Have you tried different versions of the pctool? Have you tried connecting to the bootloader via ftp?

I'm new here and I need to install RouterTech on my WAG200G for WDS support. I never before change software in any router so let me ask some questions :) :
1. What mask and default gateway I should configrure on my ethernet card?
2. By what command I should Transfer the bootloader image to the router?
3. Which firmware image I should select? " routertech-ar7wrd-1350A-pspboot-firmware-4ports-20120130.zip "?
And a last question
4. Does anyone want to watch my steps on TeamViewer?(To help if it necessary.)

Thanks in advance,
Sorry for my bad english,
manieka

My advice is - don't do it. The process of changing bootloaders is very risky, and you stand a risk of permanently trashing your router if something goes wrong (unless you have JTAG). When you have soldered on JTAG pins and built a JTAG cable, then you can consider doing this.

You were worried me a little bit. What kind of JTAG I need to do this? Sth like this: http://allegro.pl/arm-jtag-swd-na-usb-2 ... 56390.html or nokia CA-42 cable?
I have a one more question:
Why we have to change bootloader if routertech supports build in ADAM2 bootloader?

The 1350A wireless firmwares do not support Adam2.

Sorry, I don't know much about the dynamics of JTAG cables.
