Re: RouterTech Firmware 2.97 Discussion
Hello! I'm having a few problems some times with my WAG200G.
It randomly disconnects (probably not the DSL because it shows normal uptime) , the pc's cannot connect to any site and i cannot log on to my router. After 3-4 min it comes back and everything works normally, some times it does that every 10 minutes and the whole internet access stops including the router login page.
Do you guys have any idea what i should check? I have attached a diagnostic and a system log (ignore the dates) and i cleared it now just in case i gather more data.
Regards

Re: RouterTech Firmware 2.97 Discussion
I can't see anything that is obviously wrong from what you've posted, but it seems that something is intermittently waiting for a timeout. A bit of history of how you got here would be useful.
PS: I would leave off clearing logs and dmesg buffers until the issue is sorted.
PSS: the stuff you posted contains too much private information; you need to remove it, and only post what you want the whole world to see.

Re: RouterTech Firmware 2.97 Discussion
Hello!
Thank you for your reply.
Well it seems i cannot edit the post so if you can delete the attachments now it's ok.
The same day i changed the router i did a firmware upgrade on a radiolink i have on the router. The router is actually around 1.6km away from me. I downgraded both ptp links to see if it was the firmware that caused this on my lan. I talked with my friend on the other side and he said he hadn't any problems so i got suspicious on them.
I'll check it today how it works out and let you know.
Thank you for your reply.

I have deleted the attachments. I hope that I did not read you say that you upgraded the firmware wirelessly.

Re: RouterTech Firmware 2.97 Discussion
Haha! No i'm not that stupid lol. It was a spare wag200g i had. When it was ready i just went there and replaced routers leaving the old there as a backup if something goes wrong i would call and replace it.
The problem seemed to be the wireless connection. I fixed the link and it works fine so far. Bad decision to upgrade the link the same day.
Although i re upgraded the links with the same firmware but i changed some settings on the DFS etc and they are also stable and fast.
Thank's for the delete
I have a few routers more (like TG784 and others) i have to check if some ones are compatible and install routertech on them too (fun with bricking

Re: RouterTech Firmware 2.97 Discussion
I'm sure answer is no but figured I'd ask. Are there any Gbond modems that routertech firmware supports?

If it is not AR7, then the answer is always "No".

Re: RouterTech Firmware 2.97 Discussion
The compatibility list for router-tech 2.97 shows the DSL-524T A1G as "fully compatible"; But I'm having problems ... and I'm not sure it really is compatible.
I noted these posts after finding out that I have a ADM6996M chip, which says I should still be able to use the modem.
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=5229&p=52094&hilit=ADM6996M#p52094
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=5203&p=52023&hilit=ADM6996M#p52023
So, I bought the modem surplus ... and several; but they all misbehave the same.
When I flash routertech 2.97 (adam2 bootloader 4M version) onto any modem, it doesn't allow the regrouping of the ethernet ports without hanging.
I tried the routertech upgrade function to re-flash the firmware and reset the firmware environment to factory defaults, etc, but none of these fixes the problem.
I'm sure the flash memory is fine; and I have no problem running the D-Link original software after re-flashing; so it doesn't appear to be bad memory blocks.
I also changed out the two notorious capacitors in the DSL-524T, which noticibly decreased the dropped TCP packets of the modem.
Upgrading from 100uF 25V, to 220uF 63V decreased the delay time to sub-millisecond from 10's of milliseconds, with no lost packets, ever.
The modems work the same whether from a 12VAC power supply or a 9VAC power supply, so I don't think the power supply transformer or capacitors are causing the firmware failure.
But, I still can't get the firmware to allow me to change which LAN group the ethernet ports are in. The modem hangs every time I try to "add" an ethernet port to a new group.
Is there a way to verify that the ADM6996M chip is in compatibility mode? (none of the threads discuss how to tell, and I've been searching dilligently. )
Secondly, when I look at diagnostics ... I discovered something disturbing; in firmware 2.97, the file /proc/sys/dev/adam2/environment is empty.
When I run the command "ls /proc/sys/dev/" I see adam2 listed, but when I do "ls /proc/sys/dev/adam2" is empty of any files.
That suggests the adam2 kernel module for /proc is missing, or malfunctioning; because the environment variables do exist.
I tried to cat /dev/ticfg and received an Input/output error, bolstering my suspicion that the kernel is missing a driver.
Then I looked for /etc/config.xml to see if it exists, and it doesn't.
So, the adam2 version of the routertech firmware doesn't have any way to read the environment variables...
Did routertech accidentally upload a broken version of 2.97 adam firmware to the forums?
I double checked to make sure I didn't download the PSP firmware by mistake, and I downloaded:
RouterTech_3.6.0D_20120130_2.97_AR7RD-4Ports_Adam2-4mb-flash_firmware.upgrade.img
The "Tools->Diagnostic" menu, shows the same thing (adam2) ... Therefore, I flashed the correct firmware image.
But as you can see in the rest of the diagnostics, anything to do with defragmentation or environment variables is broken or missing.
So, I think there's something wrong with the adam2 4MB release of routertech 2.97.
