During my search I seem to remember that I got confirmation that when doing factory reset, holding the reset for more than 15 seconds would create exactly this situation.
I have done various attempts to see if getting back to factory default is possible. I am aware of and hope that the Routertech "Repair" viewtopic.php?t=335&highlight=repair will get me further as a last ditch attempt but I am probably best off going back to windows XP.
