How do you load the config.bin

Post by Alderian72 » Sat Mar 03, 2007 11:30 am

I've seen on these forums a utility for upgrading the config.bin to work with the 2.2 firmware, but it states the last process is to load the config.bin back to the router after upgrading the firmware. Does anyone know how to do this?

You use the same procedure that you use to upgrade the firmware - but in this case, select the config.bin instead of a firmware image.

Edit: unless you have tons of customisations that would be difficult to replicate manually, it is probably better to just change the settings manually after the firmware upgrade.

To upload a config.bin/config.img (uploading an .xml may be less reliable) file:
  1. Click on the 'System' heading.
  2. Click on 'Update Gateway' on the left hand side.
  3. Click on 'Browse' and then select the file you wish to upload.
  4. Click on 'Update Gateway' and wait for the router to upload the file.
  5. When you get a message show the update was successful, click on 'Restart'. This will reboot the router with the new config settings.
Whether or not you wish to use the Config Fixer, it's still useful to know ;)
