NO DHCP pickup, static Ip's working fine

Post by the_flames » Tue Dec 18, 2007 7:49 pm

Ive got an odd issue with my router, if I connect a PC and allow it to set the IP by DHCP, the machine get's an ip of 169.254.88.171. this tells me it's cannot see a DHCP server.

this happens on wireless and wired connections.

if I setup the ip and DNS the connection works fine. :|

it's just annoying that DHCP isnt working for when I'm adding extra machines to my network :|

I@m using the "RouterTech_3.6.0D_20070227_2.20 (20070227153110) " firmware on a Safecom swamr-54108 router.
I've checked the settings for DHCP, and they seem to be fine :|

From my System Diags, and before anyone asks the wireless is disabled at this time to reduce memory loads ;)

any ideas anyone?

I see udhcpd is running, and has recently been restarted, you could check the contents of the /var/tmp/udhcpd.conf config file, but what are those two tinyproxy-bin processes doing?

the tinyproxy-bin process is using the build in tinyproxy, so allow some sites past my PC's ip blocker using my 2nd browser

the contents if the udhcpd.conf are
/var/tmp # type udhcpd.conf
start 192.168.1.100
end 192.168.1.200
inflease_time 604800
interface br0
opt router 192.168.1.1
opt dns 192.168.1.1
opt subnet 255.255.255.0
opt lease 3600
conflict_time 3600
lease_file /var/tmp/landhcps0.leases

Nothing untoward in the dhcp conf file, it should be working unless some firewall between your PC OS and the router OS is blocking the dhcp udp broadcast or reply.

I've never used tinyproxy - but guess it could interfere if incorrectly setup?

I doubt that tinyproxy is the problem.
