2 Routers with Single DHCP and NAT

Post by azizk5 » Wed Jul 08, 2015 8:01 pm

Hello,
So i have two routers. One is provided by my ISP (1), and i bought the other one(2). I am receiving a connection from my ISP through a fiber optic cable to the provided router/modem(!). The normal configuration is that the modem/router(1) has DHCP and is giving my LAN computers IP addresses. My problem is that the router/modem(1) provided by my ISP is pretty bad at routing. What i want to do is keep the router that was provided by my ISP and connect the second router to it. I would then want to configure it so that this second router handles all the routing jobs such as DHCP (IP handling). is this possible?

Your help is appreciated. Thanks

ISP router: Huawei HG8245t
2nd router: Linksys flashed with Gargoyle firmware

You need to look for a bridge or "modem mode" in the ISP device, not all ISP devices have these.
