Running php locally

Talk about anything you like here: as long as it's technical, doesn't fit into the other categories and is within the rules. Questions and discussions about operating systems, programming, websites, hosting, ADSL etc. are particularly welcome here.

Running php locally

Post by Neo » Wed Apr 19, 2006 3:53 pm

Hi all,

I was looking for a way of running a php server locally to test out some pages and found AppServ - http://sourceforge.net/projects/appserv/

I downloaded v.2.4.5 and it seems I can now run Apache as a service...so what do I do next? :)

And what I mean by that is how do I view any php pages or whatever? :?

Actually...I might have just found out what to do :P

If I visit http://localhost/ I can see all the nice admin links for apache, php etc.

I guess that means I just need to plonk my files into a sub folder of AppServ?

Edit: Yep, I can put files into the [drive]\AppServ\www folder! Fantastic :D

Are you trying to boost your post count? :D
He ached all over. It wasn't just that his brain was writing cheques that his body couldn't cash. It had gone beyond that. Now his feet were borrowing money that his legs hadn't got, and his back muscles were looking for loose change under the sofa cushions.
