speed determines compatibility?
they are both 14mps, but lets assume they are 85 and 14. would they work together regardless of the brand?
Thanks Jim
I'll return these pairs and pick up some 85s. i was just worried i had to keep getting the same brand

If they both use the Homeplug standard (any product description or review should tell you if they use the Homeplug standard) and have been certified by the Homeplug Organisation ( http://www.homeplug.org ) then they should work together.durp wrote:they are both 14mps, but lets assume they are 85 and 14. would they work together regardless of the brand?

Re: speed determines compatibility?
Indeed they should as they should all be designed (and tested) to meet the same "standard" - however for example Solwise Homeplug units and Vesenet units have been reported as having problems ----Neo wrote:If they both use the Homeplug standard (any product description or review should tell you if they use the Homeplug standard) and have been certified by the Homeplug Organisation ( http://www.homeplug.org ) then they should work together.durp wrote:they are both 14mps, but lets assume they are 85 and 14. would they work together regardless of the brand?

Yes, unfortunately, it seems some manufacturers aren't making cross-brand compatibility a priority
Therefore to ensure that each adaptor is going to play nicely it's probably best to stick to the same brand (much in the same way that you normally get the best results by using the same brand with wifi).
