Linux on Windows

Talk about anything you like here: as long as it's technical, doesn't fit into the other categories and is within the rules. Questions and discussions about operating systems, programming, websites, hosting, ADSL etc. are particularly welcome here.

Has anyone heard about (or used) AndLinux: http://www.andlinux.org/index.php

If so, what are your experiences?

Thx :)

Not used that particular distro, but did briefly try it with Ubuntu. Not sure if it's still an option but it was possible using the liveCD to install and try Ubuntu from within windows.

Can't say I actually used it much, only tried it on an older spec machine out of idle curiosity. It worked but was a little slow. Most likely because the low spec PC.

Decided it was too much hassle maintaining two OS and had no need for windows on that machine.

This might be of interest if it still works with more recent versions...allows you to run linux from a USB pen drive on a windows machine without rebooting.

Additional:- OK having read a little bit more of what was right infront of me  , you can run a variety of linux distros from the USB pen drive which might be a useful option to some.

Installed AndLinux. Seems quick enough, even though 1 only gave it 512mb RAM. RT firmware takes the same to compile as it does under a full Ubuntu distro.
