The unit works well with the other machines in the house running varieties of Linux & win xp.
Cool :)

Any more reports of successes (or problems) with this beta firmware?

Thanks.

Am I right in thinking this is the right firmware to try if /proc/interrupts says:

Nope. This beta is for the TNETW1350A chip. The normal one supported in the RT firmware is the TNETW1130 so you have something new and interesting.
We learn something every day, and lots of times it’s that what we learned the day before was wrong.

Actually, the 1350A is the one identified in the interrupt table as 1150. So, assuming that all other things are correct (e.g., cpu, switch, etc.) then this would be the right firmware. What is your router anyway?

Mine is a Solwise SAR-600EW with the R-prefix serial number.

I just thought I'd get confirmation that I have the right chip for this Beta. I'll give it a try.

It should be fine with the Solwise. But this is beta software, so you'd better take all the precautions that have been listed. A trashed environment is a distinct possibility, and you'd better have a full backup of it.

Beetel 900AP Router from Airtel Broadband, India

Post by Eshwar » Wed Oct 03, 2007 6:02 pm

I used the Router Upgrade check utility version 1.1.5 today to find out whether my router can be upgraded using the latest firmware.

It reported that I have an experimental firmware for my router and I should try out "AR7WRD PSPBOOT TNETW1350A 4 PORT" firmware: routertech-ar7wrd-pspboot-rohs-firmware-20070907-rc1.zip

I know that my broadband company has just labelled the router with their brandname and it provides me an useless web interface. For most of the things, I have to rely on shell prompt.

After going through 2.3 demo, I felt that I should give it a try. Can you please let me know whether it is ok to upgrade using the above mentioned firmware?

GUI report of RUC (attaching report file as well):

It all looks fine, except for the fact that /etc/led.conf cannot be found, which is very odd indeed. The beta firmware should be fine - but as always, there is a big risk with firmware upgrades. Better make sure you have everything backed up, and that you have a copy of a working firmware, before trying the beta firmware.

PS: you need to remove the MAC addresses from what you have posted.

Thanks for the prompt response.

Shall I use /etc/ledprofile.txt instead.. does the content looks similar to /etc/led.conf?

I don't know the contents of /etc/ledprofile.txt, so I am afraid I can't comment on that. We do have several versions of led.conf in the beta firmware of course - but they might not be correct for your router. This won't affect the firmware's functionality, but your router's LEDs may not look right. So it is best if you had a backup of the one that came with your router, so that we can add it, if necessary, to the next firmware.

The /etc/profile.txt posted earlier in this thread is similar to an led.conf, but the text "LED1" is usually "33" and having two sets not normal. I'd recommend Eshwar make sure they have a loadable copy of the original firmware because it seems quite new with different features than others!

Thanks to both of you.

I shall be trying this out later this week however would appreciate sombody could post contents of couple of sample led.conf files

URL to my router's spec page is: http://www.beetelmodems.com/900ap.html

And, secondly I couldn't find the official firmware anywhere. Is there a way I can download from my router itself?

I have gone through the ENV part.
