604t bricked! help plz!

Post by blubb » Sat Sep 02, 2017 3:40 pm

So, a heavy thunderstorm fried my dlink DSL-2750B (actually just the DSL part doesn't work anymore)... so I decided to bring back my 604t.

Problem is that I needed to upgrade the fw for the ADSL2+ to work properly.

Sadly it bricked.

The status LED is flashing, and if I attach the ADSL cable the ADSL LED turns on.
The WLAN doesn't work.
And I am unable to find it on the network if I connect it via ethernet (but the LED turns on).
I tried adam2app (2.1,2.3), tiupgrade who doesn't seem to find it anymore and I am currently trying to run a network scan tool to see if it got a strange IP.

Any help or suggestion?

P.S the RRT utility download link doesn't work

LAN switch errors on such routers are not uncommon - sometimes due to bad capacitors, see for example

viewtopic.php?f=16&t=3818

Do you get any connection from any of the lan ports? Sometimes forcing your PC to 10Mbps, or using an old 10Mbps hub between PC and router works for a bit.

Default bootloader IP address is usually 192.168.1.1, but can often be changed so you are correct to look for others.

I rly doubt its a capacitor issue... it worked just before the firmware upgrade?

I tried with changing the speed to 10 megabit full and half duplex to no success.

Any IP I could try? 10.8.8.8, 5.8.8.8, 10.1.1.1, 10.0.0.1 aren't working :\ I really thing its officialy bricked unless I JTAG it :(

Also the router seems to boot just fine (exept the WLAN doesn't turn on and there's no DHCP on too)....

So rly no idea what happened here.

192.168.0.1 is possible. Make sure you set a static IP on your PC in correct range for each IP you try.

As it seems to boot and connect to ADSL can't be the bootloader.

What firmware did you load? Its possible it had the wrong switch drivers - but you should be able to recover through bootloader tools.

http://ftp.dlink.ru/pub/ADSL/DSL-G604T/ ... .20071228/

That's the FW. Since I am an idiot I did it via wireless through the web interface.

192.168.0.1 was already tried.

Since tiupgrade doesn't detect the IP it means the ENVs are fu**ed I think

I was also thinking it may have no IP set so maybe I could try running a DHCP server on the interface and see if the router gets an assigned IP. Is this an idiotic idea?

I am not aware of any such routers that have a dhcp client installed, but of course many modern devices do. Dlink did have habit of keeping the same model No and changing the internals (to keep good reviews on internet purchase sites?) so still possible wrong switch (and wifi) drivers. Reset button to reset vars should be read by bootloader, but timing to get bootloader tools to connect can be short, and reset button relies on software reading it and taking action, sometimes the button input no set by software... I always recommend getting serial console working first, I remember getting jtag connectors on a 604T very tricky
