I can't check Dlink 604-T

Post by fid0did0 » Sat Aug 25, 2007 9:05 pm

Hello to everyone.
I have a Dlink 604-T router. I want to upgrade with RT-firmware.
If I try to check for the TNETW1130 chip I get:

# cat /proc/interrupts
7: 844624 R4000 timer/counter [MIPS interrupt]
15: 139 serial [hw0 (Avalanche Primary)]
23: 458787 + SAR [hw0 (Avalanche Primary)]
29: 404279 + VLYNQ0 [hw0 (Avalanche Primary)]
41: 2516 + Cpmac Driver [hw0 (Avalanche Primary)]
47: 21170 + DSL [hw0 (Avalanche Primary)]
#
#

Can I flash the RT firmware ?

You don't seem to have your wireless functionality enabled. What is the output of "cat /proc/modules" ?

Ok, I can see "tiwlan" there. That is different from what one would expect to see (which is "tiap") - but then I have never had a G604T so I don't know what one should expect there. We do have people using RT firmwares on G604Ts of course (AR7WRD images for the ATMEL flash - and the DarkWolf mods). However, I don't know how many versions of that device exist or what is in each of them, so I can't guarantee that the RT firmwares would support your specific device.

From
# cat /proc/interrupts
7: 844624 R4000 timer/counter [MIPS interrupt]
15: 139 serial [hw0 (Avalanche Primary)]
23: 458787 + SAR [hw0 (Avalanche Primary)]
29: 404279 + VLYNQ0 [hw0 (Avalanche Primary)]

and from http://www.seattlewireless.net/index.cgi/DlinkDslG604t
I suppose to have the VLINQ WiFi card.
It is good for RT firmware ?

"vlynq" in itself is neither here nor there. The important thing is the chipset. The link you provide indicates that it is a TNETW1130, which is the wifi chip that our firmware currently supports, and that is consistent with comments from current users of our firmware on the G604T. It works for others, and it should work for you (if your own device contains the same hardware). Your mileage may vary of course.

imho i would say it's a very good idea... you have a very old firmware... and your router works well with RT :) (i have the same one)
